Understanding The Mechanics Of A Good Golf Swing

There are many factors that go into hitting a golf ball straight. This article is going to take a look at those factors so you can start to figure out what it takes to have a model golf swing. The first thing to remember is that the mechanics of a good golf swing do not happen overnight and they take years of practice to perfect.

Steps To Developing The Mechanics Of A Good Golf Swing

The first step is to figure out what you are doing wrong. The best way to do this is to get a friend or coach to tape your swing. While getting this done at the driving range can be useful, it is actually better to get actual tape of your swing on a real golf course as this will show your true swing. Driving ranges are great but most golfers do not swing the same way at a range as they will on the course. Only by understanding the mechanics of your swing on the course can you hope to develop the mechanics of a good golf swing.

Once you have sufficient tape of you swing, look to see what parts of your swing look forced or unnatural. This will start to point you in the right direction. These unnatural and forced motions will often result in miss hits, pushes, pulls that will result in balls flying to who knows where.

The next step to getting the mechanics of a good golf swing into your game is to get on the course and practice. First stop should be the driving range to fully integrate the solutions to the problems into your swing. I would suggest going to the range a minimum of five times and hitting around 200 balls each time. Once you have done this you should start to see immediate dividends in the ease of your swing and of your accuracy and range.

After your practice on the range it is time to hit the course. I would again bring someone to tape your swing. See how you score, how you play, and how comfortable you feel and compare this with how you felt when you last taped yourself. Then review the tapes and look to see if any of the changes you attempted to implement had a positive effect. Hopefully the changes you put in have improved your game and more importantly have given you re the mechanics of a good golf swing.
